With a nod toward European living, a property in Longmeadow, Mass., has been revamped, redesigned and redecorated -- inside and outside – to deliver a truly “one-of-a-kind” chateau-designed style.

“There really is no stone unturned,” says Nancy Maree, the home’s listing agent. “It is really tranquil and special. It’s one-of-a-kind.”

Sitting on more than a half-acre at 104 Ardsley Road, this 5,400-square-foot home is located in the luxurious and private Glen Arden. The neighborhood was designed by well-known landscape architect Frederick Law Olmstead, who is noteworthy for co-designing urban parks such as Central Park in New York City.

After spending time in Europe, the homeowners desired to create a home reminiscent of Frédéric Chopin, a Polish composer and pianist during the Romantic period. They consulted with a team of artisans to redesign the home, built in 1975, on a property fitting of a European estate.

The property’s natural oasis outside infuses with the inside. A combined post-and-beam great room and kitchen serve as the heart of the home. An unusual eyebrow window, which exudes a joyful vibe, is also a focal point.

From the front of the home, enter into the wood-and-glass paned doorway -- detailed with columns and decorative lighting -- into the expansive foyer. The open floor plan shows off the generous-size rooms on the main level that are adorned by hardwood floors, high ceilings and recessed lighting.

Wrapped in crown molding, the dining room can easily entertain a large family or gathering. The living room has a modern decorative gas fireplace and large windows.

In the great room, a wall of windows and doors makes the space feel as if you are outside. The great room-kitchen is a wide-open area with a floor-to-ceiling stone gas fireplace and built-in shelving.

The kitchen is ornamented with high-end stainless appliances, a gas countertop stove, a vented range hood, granite stone, a tile backsplash, pullout cabinetry, a pot-filler faucet, pendant lighting and two sinks including one in a farmhouse style. A custom breakfast bar was constructed from wood sourced on the property.

On the main level, the impressive and oversize primary suite has additional space to create an office. At the centerpiece of its en suite is a frameless glass-door shower clad in tile and finished with multiple showerheads. Also on the first floor is a half bathroom. Walk into the mudroom area from the two-car garage. Two additional spacious bedrooms and a full bathroom are located on the second level.

The walkout finished lower level completes the home with a beautiful open-concept game room, a movie theater, a bedroom, a full bathroom, a wet bar, a home gym and a spacious laundry room. A temperature-controlled, custom wine room can hold more than 250 bottles and is the envy of any true connoisseur.

“It is a work of art,” Maree says of the wine room, draped with bottles of wine displayed in a vertical pattern on the wall.

In the picturesque backyard, a European garden is fashioned with lush greenery, gravel paths, benches, patios, extensive stonework, a fire pit and decorative lighting. The bluestone and Goshen Stone® retaining walls embrace a water feature that is aesthetically pleasing as it is calming. An added bonus is an outdoor kitchen with everything you need to whip up a meal – a gas grill hookup, a bar, granite counters and storage.

Gardens are not only for beauty; they produce a harvest, which can be extremely satisfying. A bed of perennials contains horseradish and rhubarb among other plantings. There is also an herb garden. Several self-pollinating fruit trees bear an abundance of peaches, apricots, cherries, apples, pears and so much more to enjoy throughout several seasons.

“It’s like a walking feast,” Maree adds.

On the exterior of the home, the post-and-beam framing merges decorative wood and stone that ties into the asphalt roof with fiberglass shingles. The circular-shaped driveway with stone markers affords lots of extra parking. In the front yard, there are gardens, hedges, benches, stone walls and pea-gravel beds.

The home is serviced by public water and sewer service, is heated by a natural gas ductless system and is cooled by mini-split central air conditioning. There are high-end green energy efficient mechanicals, insulation and transom windows. Additional amenities include a security system, an all-house backup generator, a programmable thermostat and an irrigation system.

“The home is so warm and inviting, it is gorgeous,” Maree says, adding that Longmeadow is a “lovely community” to live in.

The list price for this home is $1.25 million. For photos, a virtual tour and more details about this home and property, visit https://104ardsleyrd.com.
