A road in Exeter city centre has been closed today after a large roof tile fell from a nearby building. Police and the fire service attended the scene to ensure the building is safe.

At around 11:45am today (September 5), police were called following reports that a large tile had fallen from the roof of an unoccupied building on New North Road. The fire service also attended as it was reported that further roof tiles appeared unsafe.

According to Devon Alert on Twitter, police initially requested "a road closure to the north and south of Longbrook House" near the junctions of New North Road/Blackall Road and Longbrook Street. In an update, it was reported that "New North Rd remains open, the closure in force is on Longbrook Terrace only. Please expect delays in and around Longbrook Terrace."
