South Wales Police have raided a cannabis factory on City Road, in the centre of Cardiff on Friday 29th July.

Officers entered the property after receiving a tip off and found a man in the attic, who then climbed out onto the roof and onto the roof of surrounding buildings nearby, reported Wales Online.

Photographs of the house show the premises converted into a cannabis factory, with each room used to grow cannabis plants.

Ronaldo Vidhani, a 22-year-old man, has been arrested and charged with producing the controlled drug and criminal damage. He appeared at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on Monday 1st August and was held in custody until a further hearing at Cardiff Crown Court.

A spokesperson for the South Wales Police said to Wales Online, “The property has since been made safe by Western Power and the cannabis has been destroyed.”

They also announced the news of the raid on Twitter and said that the discovery was possible due to “proactive teamwork” from its Cardiff Organised Crime Team and Dogs Unit.

This raid comes soon after another cannabis farm was shut down on Richmond Road, Cathays three weeks prior where one man was also arrested and charged with the production of cannabis.

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: “On Friday, July 29, officers gained entry to a property in City Road following information received. A man was found in the attic causing damage to the roof, climbing out onto the roof and onto the nearby roof of the Ernest Willows pub damaging a roof tile.

“A cordon was put in place and a 22-year-old man was detained and arrested for cultivation of cannabis and criminal damage. The premises had been fully converted into a cannabis factory with every room being used to grow around 420 cannabis plants.

“The property has been made safe by Western Power and the cannabis has been destroyed. Ronaldo Vidhani, 22, of City Road, Roath, appeared at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Monday, August 1) charged with producing a controlled drug and criminal damage. He was remanded in custody until a further hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on August 26.”
